What To Expect

  • Your first appointment with one of our osteopaths may take up to an hour.
  • The consultation starts off with a detailed case history which will include a full medical history. This helps to ascertain that your symptoms do not have a medical cause and to ensure that you receive the appropriate treatment.
  • Once the case history has been taken a physical examination will be performed. This will involve the osteopath asking the patient to do a range of movements to assess how the joints are moving. Both spinal and peripheral joints may be examined depending on the presenting complaint.
  • A diagnosis will then be made and this will be discussed thoroughly with you. At this stage its hugely important to both you and us that you have an understanding of whats going on, if you have any questions then these will be covered  – although patients should never hesitate to contact us either by phone or email before or between their appointments.
  • A suggested management plan will be discussed with the patient.
  • Treatment will be given at the first appointment and the osteopath may also give you some advise on a variety of ways to help with your symptoms, such as:
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Stretches
  • Exercises
  • Your will also be advised on your first visit on how many appointments the osteopath feels you require.
